Climate in Australia

Australia is located in the southern hemisphere and has a wide range of climate zones. On the island itself the temperatures vary from below zero to sometimes higher than 50° Celsius. The temperature will differ from the more tropical regions of the North to the more temperate regions of the southern part of the island.

Australia is fairly dry with well over three quarters of the island only having 600 millimeters of rain or less each year, with half of this land only having 300 millimeters or less.

The majority of the major cities are located in the damper temperate regions in the south eastern portions of the island.
